Teachers
We’d like to make things as easy as possible for teachers to incorporate movement into their classroom teaching. The benefits of exercise have been researched countless times and we truly believe in the ‘healthy body, healthy mind’ philosophy.
LaunchPad can be delivered in schools by teachers. LaunchPad offers prescriptive Lesson Plans aimed to reach curriculum objectives in Health and Physical Education. Alternatively, teachers can mix and match activities from the Lesson Plans using the knowledge gained in their LaunchPad: Ignite! workshop. Gymnastics Australia also have a range of supplementary resources that can give further ideas and options to help with planning.
LaunchPad: Ignite! is a six-hour workshop that guides teachers through the fundamentals of LaunchPad programs. Using a framework of basic movement skills, teachers will then be more prepared to scaffold their students’ learning through movement. With suggestions on how to use movement as a teaching tool across many curriculum areas (and recommendations on easy-to-use resources to aid your planning), LaunchPad:
Ignite! is a fun, active and thought-provoking workshop.
GYMSkools* is an online resource enabling LaunchPad certified teachers and coaches to create and save their own lesson plans with a convenient Lesson Plan Builder. Participants on the LaunchPad: Ignite! workshop gain access to this resource for a 12 month timeframe with the option to continue their involvement with LaunchPad afterwards.
Your state Youth Participation Coordinator (YPC) can help link you to local LaunchPad clubs in your area as well. You may like to arrange a club visit for your students, you may have students who want even more LaunchPad action or you may like a LaunchPad certified coach to come to your school to deliver a LaunchPad session. Whatever you need, your State Gymnastics Association is here to help and will be able to help you make a connection.
